My Art

 27/8/2020

The whole of Belfast school is having an Art expedition. Each class has to put in there own peace of art and my class did eye art.  We had to sketch our own eye with the reflection of our future as the pupil. For my future I see myself as a doctor so I sketch me looking at a heart rate monitor showing no heart beat.
I shaded a tear drop showing the emotion of me losing my patient.

For the second peace of art we also got to put our own free peace of art into the expedition.  I did I drawing of an alien stuck on planet Earth painting her own home, the galaxy.  I loved drawing both of these art peaces, but my favorite would  be the alien art because I loved the colors I used and because it was a lot easier than the eye art.

Halloween

3/7/2020

Halloween-The one night of year when all the children of Belfast come out to play and say the three most dreadful words that you will ever hear. Those three words will stick in your head like slime and ring in your ears like bells. ¨TRICK OR TREAT?!¨. Monsters prawl out of the dark-all kinds of monsters. Dark ones, scary ones, stripped ones, but the worst of all- the grim reaper himself. He stalks the night looking for children to feast on. Sneaks up on you in the moon lights gloom.

All over the news, broadcasts all the way in America-headlines in the paper reading, "Children disappearing unexpectedly". "Come on Jemma, your scaring the kids!". "A good Halloween story should be fun and happy, not a story to frightened them." said Georgia solemnly. "Come on let's get going, the lollies won't be there forever.".

Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

Under the bed.

27/7/2020    By Georgia and Carma.

Scratching and screaming, the sounds were pounding in little James's ear. Scrunching his palms and biting his lips, James was scared right out of his fingertips. Stepping out onto the wooden floor, the boards start screeching once more. Getting down on one knee, James was suddenly about to flee. But there lying on the ground was uncle Jimmy, picking his nose and doing the shimmy.

Little James laughed so hard he almost felt like he needed to barf. His Uncle Jimmy slid out from under the bed, he hit a wooden board and bumped his head. Uncle Jimmy's eyes started to go all funny and then all of a sudden he was imagining Auntie sunny. Running around all over the place he was smashing glass as if he was in a race.

Uncle Jimmy fell down with a bash making little James run to him in a flash. But there lay Uncle Jimmy having a snooze, little James thinking maybe it was all...

Finish the sentence...

Ski field

7/2020

The long winding road slowly turned to not much more than a snow filled path. The cliff below sending shivers down my spine as my dad grips the wheel tighter on the icy bends. My dad and I were on our way to Dobson ski field at around 11:00 in the morning about a 54 minute drive from lake Tekapo where we had stayed the night before. The 25km road was what I would call the stairs to hell but when you reach the top you would see it was just the gate way to heaven.

The light was blinding in my eyes making everything around me seem dull and colorless. I put my dads old sunglasses on and was wrapped up in my puffer jacket. I stuffed my new fluffy red wine colored hat- (that my dad had given to me as an appreciation gift for finding his credit card when he lost it at the restaurant in Tekapo)- on my soon to be cold fluffed up head.

My first ever step onto a ski field frightened me a lot. The ice beneath me felt as delicate as 100 feathers laying on a thin sheet of crystal. I was wearing my school running shoes so that didn't help and by the looks of everyone around me we were definitely not equipped with the right gear for tramping threw snow and ice.

In the distance I could see the skiers rippling down the sugar coated mountains leaving gashes in the snow and ice. From where I was standing they looked like little ants looking for food in the clouds. Me and my dad were mainly there to get prepared for another time when we had the equipment to ski. I could have a look at the training area where you can go learn to ski for new beginners. After a good look around it was time to head back to Christchurch-Lincoln where my dad lives.

On the way back down the snowy hill to the car-an unexpected fall happened. I had slipped on a peace of ice and hit my head with a bang. Drums banging in my head, everything around me was going blurring with the stinging pain of tears in my eyes. My sunglasses blocking everyone's view from above where I laying. "Are you okay?", my dad asked with a hint of laughter and worry in his voice. "I'm fine", I say trying to be brave while brushing off the tears on my cheek.

It was a long ride home after that and here I am writing this post three days later wondering if all that excitement was worth a consequence. šŸ˜“šŸ˜“

Star Art!

For Art this term we made star art!
The star art was a great way to show the things that we like about ourselves and to tell others about us.
The writing took a long time to do because you have to make sure that you don´t make a mistake or write the wrong thing.  The star was really fun to color in and to fold it so it makes it pop out.
Some of the things I wrote was, I am a star because I am good  maths. I am star because I have blue eyes, and I am a star because I have good friends. ❤šŸ’„

Nana is falling!

1/7/2020

Chapter 45 of George´s Marvellous Medicine!
Nana is falling!
Recreation.
Inspired by Roald Dahl.

¨George!¨. It was a wonderful sight! Nana was flying, she was flying so high even the clouds would not be able to see her. There she was, dancing and prancing in the could mornings air. ¨These stupid pills actually worked!¨, she yelled down to George. But George was to amazed by the sight of the old witch up in the deep blue sky that he didn´t even hear her.

¨Hold on Nana!¨, he yelled. ¨I will get the trampoline out from the backyard!¨. George ran down the stone path where the trampoline lay and slowly dragged it by it´s old rusty springs back to the front of the house where the old rat was flying. When George went to yell at her, he saw a ghastly sight! Nana was plummeting to the ground as fast as the eye could see! ¨George!!!!¨, she scowled. ¨Hold on Nana, land here on the trampoline!¨.

It was to late, Nana was falling like the bombs down on Germany in world war 2! ¨Crash!". She had landed right on the red prickly roses that she bought at last years garden sale. (Nana is not gonna be happy) George thought. (Forget the roses what about Nana? What will mum say when she finds out the I was the reason Nana broke her back!?). Suddenly, George heard a a small squeak from the broken thorns and branches. ¨BoY, GiVe Me MoRe mEdIcINe¨.

Racism hurts

For reading we are looking at Racism and Black lives matter.
I have done a pace of art talking about how racism hurts. On the right side of the paper I have done words that can really hurt people, and on the left words that can fight back against racism, and how racism is not a good thing. ✊

Reading this week.

26/6/2020

For this weeks reading, we could remake any New Zealand note and put water ever you want on it. I made a 100 dollar note and put a kiwi running away from Australia bombing Auckland city. I know, I am probably gonna start world war 3! My best friend Georgia is now 100 dollars richer. ❤šŸ’…

19/6/2020

For this weeks reading I made a Kahoot on earthquakes around the world. Unfortunately I am not able to put the link on my blog but I would like to tell you about it. Some of the questions I put on my kahoot were, How big was the biggest earthquake in the world? Where was the biggest earthquake in the world? Is an earthquake a natural disaster, and can earthquakes cause tsunamis? Can you answer these questions?

Around the world?

26/05/2020

W.A.L.T: make connections, text to world.

For this activity we have to describe a holiday destination of our chose and to make a poster, slide, or shot movie on what makes them so desirable?
The holiday destination I picked is, Switzerland. My dream is to travel around Switzerland/Europe, and to try new foods, find new culture, and to meet new people. I made a poster on Switzerland saying why I would want to go there and facts about landmarks and sightseeing.

Some 75 million people died in world war II, nearly double the 40 million deaths of world war I. About 20 million military personnel and 40 million civilians, many of whom died because of deliberate genocide, massacres, mass-bombings, disease, and starvation during the second world war.

Last years holiday

11/5/2020

For this activity that I created myself, I thought that I could tell you all about my best holiday away. Where did I go? Would I go there again? What did I do there? Who was I with? Because this holiday was so big I will only be able to tell you the fun parts about it.

On July 2019 during the school holidays a plane was coming in to pick up passengers waiting to go to Tokyo Japan, two of the passengers being me and my dad! Tokyo was one of my favourtie holidays that I have ever done and I will remember it forever. Not only did we go to Tokyo we went to Kyoto and Nara and some other surrounding towns. Our long holiday went on for ten days, and those ten days were the best I have ever experienced. My holiday went a little like this, stay in Tokyo for two nights, take a bullet train to Kyoto and stay there for six nights, take the bullet train back to Tokyo and stay there for another two nights and then come back home. We also took a day trip to Nara and some other little towns threw all the gapes.

My top ten favourite things that I did in Japan.

1. I got to go on a Bullet train that was going 320 km/h!!!!!!!!

2. Going to Nara to see all the wild deer and to feed them.

3. Going to the amazing Bamboo Forest.

4. Eating real gold leaf on an ice cream.

5. seeing all the different shrines, and to see the most famous one totally covered in gold leaf!!!

6. The amazing food!!

7. going to a water park and to see all kinds of different fish and to see a dolphin show that was incredible.

8. seeing how life works in Japan.

9. Shopping-out of this world!!

10. walking for hundreds of miles to get place to place.

Japan was amazing and I would definitely go there again. what was your favourite holiday? would you go there again?

Violin

08/52020

Violin.

What do you know about Violin's? Some people just think it's just another instrument that people play for fun, but Violin is so much more than that. I know all this because I have been playing Violin for around 8 years now, same teacher, same place, same time every Wednesday. Violin is one of the hardest instruments to play, and from all those years of playing I have only learned about 40% of how a Violin works, I know crazy, but I still love to play. I have to say there have been some days where I have wanted to give up but I have a great family and an amazing Violin teacher who pushed me on and have even got me to do exams. I have done one exam so far that I passed with 120 points which is 20 points over the passing line and will be doing another this year or next. I have actually learned to like Violin exams, why? Well they give me something to push towards and to strive for each year I do them and I am sure that is why I am still playing.

Who invented the Violin?
Andrea Amati, or Gasparo da Sal'o
The creator of the violin is uncertain, with some people pointing at Andrea Amati, and others at Gasparo da Sal'o, but one thing is sure that the Violin was created in Italy in the town of Cremona in the early 16th century. The oldest surviving Violin is the Charles IX made by Andrea Amati. It is hard to find pictures on google of the real Charles IX, but I have found the Amati "king" Cello to what I believe is the Charles IX. The patterns on the back of this violin are amazing, or though this might not be the oldest Violin ever it is hundreds of years old.

Game night!

07/5/2020

Or though I spend most of my time on Technology I have been doing some cool Games to get me out and doing something. Out side games, indoor games, games with family, games to do by myself, and to get the competition going.

Game 1. Scrabble. I love Scrabble because it helps with your spelling and helps you find new words that you had never heard before. I play Scrabble with my grandma to see who is better at spelling. I love to play with her, because she helps me with words, is a good sport, and not a bad loser. Yes, I normally win but I must say she gets the better words.  This game is a great way to do your work and have a little bit of fun and competition doing it.

Game 2. This is my out door game that I play, I call it bean bag throw. I made this all by myself with some hoops of all different sizes and put them in a line. I do not have bean bags at my house so I got some old socks and put some stones in them to make sure they don't roll away. I got a point chart and wrote down me and my mum's name to see who gets the most points. The closest hoop is 10 points, the middle hoop is 20 and the end hoop 30. My mum won all of the rounds and I didn't even get one in! Instead I nearly hit my cat who was watching, "Sorry Strawberry."

Game 3. Noughts and crosses. I think everyone knows this game from when they were kids. I play this game with my whole family sometimes and it is very fun to win. It is a quick easy game to play when you are bored and looking for something to do. Me knowing how the game works I know some tricks and turns to make an easy win. I always try to be the first to put down a nought or cross and get the other player out. You have to be smart and think about where you are placing your cross or nought. Make sure to always have your eye on the other players nought or cross and to try and out think them.

Whats your favourite game?

ART

For technology I am in Art. The theme for this year Cultural Festival this year is Kia hora te marino meaning, May the peace be widespread. There are all different categories that will be placed in the Cultural Festival and so will, Mandalas. Mandalas is a type of art that can be used as many different meanings and symbols around the world. Today it is mostly used for Mindfulness and Meditation.

For this activity we have to draw our own Mandalas. I did one on paper and one digitally.
love this category because you can just go all out with different shapes and patterns.

To learn how to draw a Mandalas here is a link to a YouTube video. How to Draw a Simple Mandala
Thanks for reading, Georgia.

Summer Learning Journey

01/05/2020

Summer Learning Journey
week 1
Activity 3: Achieving our dreams.

For this activity, we have to chose a friend or family member and ask them what there dream job would be and list six ways of how we could support them.  In this case I  am going to do my two BFFs Georgia Swale and Carma Harris.

Georgia, who one day has a dream of becoming a fantastic cook/chef, has an AMAZING GIFT for making delicious meals and wants to own her own restaurant and strive to get a Michelin star! Carma, a kind, caring person who has a talent for helping people does not have her eye on one particular career and is deciding either to be a Teacher, Nurse, Vet or Actress, and to have a job that she really likes. I have no worries that they will not achieve their goals but both of these two ambitious people will have to work very hard to achieve them, so what can I do to help?

1. Studies, If any of them have to study really hard I will be by there side all the way to the finish.

2. If they think that they can no longer go on I would push them to the end no matter what!

3. I would incourage there dreams and tell them to fight in what they believe in.

4. I will be ready as there friend to support them threw tough times.

5. The inspiring saying, when the going gets tough the tough get going!

6. And most importantly I would  just be the best friend that I can be to them!

Kaikoura "UFO Sightings".

30/04/2020

UFO SIGHTINGS IN KAIKOURA?

"Is this real?"
"UFO sightings in Kaikoura?"
"White lights being confirmed by a radar systems."

The number of UFO sightings has increased in the last 100 years to America, England, Ireland, to all way over over here Kaikoura, New Zealand. In 1978 UFO sightings were reported just of the coast of Kaikoura and Clarence. Argosy (A type of air craft), was chased by one of these so called UFOs at a great amount of speed. More and more people had claimed to see these lights and soon later the whole world was on it.

On December 31st, another Argosy carrying a film crew sore a cluster of four or five lights near the Kaikoura Peninsula, and a pulsing white light, while Wellington radar had contacts about 21km ahead of them, near the Clarence river.
Then there were radar "returns" from behind the aircraft, and a radar "target" where the crew saw the white light off there starboard side.

Flying out of Christchurch at 2am, the crew again saw a large white light, which they said aligned with a large radar target. Soon after the sightings the people of Kaikoura claimed to have seen strange objects, not in the sky but on ground. My grandma was travelling home at 10pm when she saw a strange silhouette of person running straight in front of her car. another claimed to have seen a strange women, holding a balloon at the entrance of Lovers lane at night.

Is there another world out there?
UFO or just a light?

My pets!

24/04/2020

What pets do I have?
What are there names?

What animals are living in my house? I have three cats, two sleek girls and one boy who thinks he is the king of the jungle.

1. Toby, or as my dad calls him Tobias, is my only male cat who lives with my Dad.  We only got Toby around the start of last year from one of my grandmas friends house who could no longer look after him. Toby was dropped off at her door step around 8 years ago or less so we are not sure what age he is, but I swear he acts like he is only 2. Toby loves to walk around the garden and meet up with his friend, Comet. Comet is our neighbours cat who we originally thought was Toby's girlfriend but soon found out was a boy. Comet and Toby hangout everyday and love to eat dinner together. Only recently has Toby found a liking to catching rats, birds and baby rabbits. He loves to eat food and sleep with my Dad at night.

2. Strawberry. Strawberry, who is a female, is the cat that I have had a the longest. I have had strawberry since I was 7 making her around 9 years old. She is really fat and LOVES to eat. She is black and white and has thick but sleek fur who lives at my Mum's house. She has a bit of a habit of getting herself into cat fights with the other cats in the neighbourhood that have been leaving her with some scars. We found her at a cat keeper place with her many other siblings, her brothers were very friendly but back then all I wanted was a girl. I named her Strawberry because she loves to hangout at our strawberry patch. Other than that she is a loving cat that loves the attention.

3. Coco a female sleek furred cat, is my newest family member who has only been with me 16 weeks. She is a miniature Burmese who loves the attention and getting cuddles. She loves to sleep under your bed with your toes, but I must say it does get a little annoying. Coco was my step sisters old cat who lived up in Auckland. After coming down to Christchurch she soon realised that Coco was better off here. Coco is probably a young cat but we do not know her age. Coco and Strawberry live in the same house together but do not get along as well as they should. I soon hope they will become friends.
