Kaikoura "UFO Sightings".

UFO SIGHTINGS IN KAIKOURA?

"Is this real?"
"UFO sightings in Kaikoura?"
"White lights being confirmed by a radar systems."

The number of UFO sightings has increased in the last 100 years to America, England, Ireland, to all way over over here Kaikoura, New Zealand. In 1978 UFO sightings were reported just of the coast of Kaikoura and Clarence. Argosy (A type of air craft), was chased by one of these so called UFOs at a great amount of speed. More and more people had claimed to see these lights and soon later the whole world was on it.

On December 31st, another Argosy carrying a film crew sore a cluster of four or five lights near the Kaikoura Peninsula, and a pulsing white light, while Wellington radar had contacts about 21km ahead of them, near the Clarence river.
Then there were radar "returns" from behind the aircraft, and a radar "target" where the crew saw the white light off there starboard side.

Flying out of Christchurch at 2am, the crew again saw a large white light, which they said aligned with a large radar target. Soon after the sightings the people of Kaikoura claimed to have seen strange objects, not in the sky but on ground. My grandma was travelling home at 10pm when she saw a strange silhouette of person running straight in front of her car. another claimed to have seen a strange women, holding a balloon at the entrance of Lovers lane at night.

Is there another world out there?
UFO or just a light?

Activity 2: Defying the Odds

For this activity we have to write a interview for a chosen basketball player and ask them a list of questions. My chosen basketball player will be LeBron James.

"Hello LeBron James, I am just here to ask you a few questions for your fans". "Great, answer them as  truthfully as possible please, but it is okay if you do not want to answer".

1. How is it being one of the best ever basketball players in the world?
2. How did that effect your life?
3. What was your favourite Lakers game?
4. What was your worst Lakers game?
5. Who was your inspiration?
6. Will you ever stop playing basketball at some point?
7. I hear you have kids, what do they think of their dad?

"One last question".
8. What do you have to say to all of your fans out there?

"I am Georgia Barratt, and that was LeBron James".

My pets!

24/04/2020

What pets do I have?
What are there names?

What animals are living in my house? I have three cats, two sleek girls and one boy who thinks he is the king of the jungle.

1. Toby, or as my dad calls him Tobias, is my only male cat who lives with my Dad.  We only got Toby around the start of last year from one of my grandmas friends house who could no longer look after him. Toby was dropped off at her door step around 8 years ago or less so we are not sure what age he is, but I swear he acts like he is only 2. Toby loves to walk around the garden and meet up with his friend, Comet. Comet is our neighbours cat who we originally thought was Toby's girlfriend but soon found out was a boy. Comet and Toby hangout everyday and love to eat dinner together. Only recently has Toby found a liking to catching rats, birds and baby rabbits. He loves to eat food and sleep with my Dad at night.

2. Strawberry. Strawberry, who is a female, is the cat that I have had a the longest. I have had strawberry since I was 7 making her around 9 years old. She is really fat and LOVES to eat. She is black and white and has thick but sleek fur who lives at my Mum's house. She has a bit of a habit of getting herself into cat fights with the other cats in the neighbourhood that have been leaving her with some scars. We found her at a cat keeper place with her many other siblings, her brothers were very friendly but back then all I wanted was a girl. I named her Strawberry because she loves to hangout at our strawberry patch. Other than that she is a loving cat that loves the attention.

3. Coco a female sleek furred cat, is my newest family member who has only been with me 16 weeks. She is a miniature Burmese who loves the attention and getting cuddles. She loves to sleep under your bed with your toes, but I must say it does get a little annoying. Coco was my step sisters old cat who lived up in Auckland. After coming down to Christchurch she soon realised that Coco was better off here. Coco is probably a young cat but we do not know her age. Coco and Strawberry live in the same house together but do not get along as well as they should. I soon hope they will become friends.

Summer Learning Journey!

Day 3: Team players
Activity 1: Rugby Superstars!

For this activity we have to list three super powers we would have if we are superheros!?
What super power?
Why that power?

1. Shapeshifter? I would want to have the power of a Shapeshifter because if There was a situation where something is missing or needed, I can just Shapeshift into that someone or something. The good thing about Shapeshifting, is that you don't really need anymore powers because you can shapeshift into that thing that has that power.

2. Healing powers? I would want the power of healing! If someone got hurt or world war three some how happened I would be there to help anyone in need! I would only use this power on important things because sometimes things are meant to happen for a reason.

3. Super hearing! I would use this power to hear if bad things were coming and to help worn anyone that doesn't know about it? But I would mainly use this power to hear if my parents are talking about me and I think so would every person.

Here is a drawing that I made on Ibis paint on my iPad of what I think I would want to look like as a superhero.

Summer Learning Journey!
Week 1
Activity 3:Miracle on the Hudson.

For this activity we have to write a recount on when we (or someone we know) Has done something Brave!

My Brave thing that I have done is White Water Rafting in Bali with my Step Dad and Mum! White Water Rafting is when you go on an inflatable raft/boat and go down a really rocky cold, fast flowing river! It is really dangerous because you can fall out of the raft and hit your head on a rock. It actually nearly happened to me but my step dad caught my life jacket just before I fell out! Really scary, but all the rest was really fun! I got to meet new people, see and try new things.

Activity 2: One Small Step For Man.

For this activity, we have to imagine that we are Neil Armstrong! We have to write a short poem describing How we felt when we first step foot on the moon!

Here is my poem!

Let's take a trip to the moon!
Let's play games with the stars!
But dad whats that big red thing over there?
Oh son, that's another planet called Mars!

One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind.
Every little thing was rushing in mind!
But look at me!
I am standing on the moon!
I wonder what my wife will say when I get home soon?

Thanks for reading!

Summer Learning Journey
Week 1

Activity 3: Scaling new heights.

For this activity, we needed to select a charity that we are most interested in.  For my charity, I picked the Pink ribbon, Breast Cancer Foundation. The Breast Cancer Foundation supports women with signs of breast Cancer, aware of breast Cancer, or women that have already had breast Cancer.

They help with research and medical grants. They rely entirely on donations from the New Zealand public including personal donations, fundraising events and corporate partnerships for their work.
72% of the donations go to Medical & research, Awareness & education, Support and Project reserves.

The reason I picked the Breast Cancer Foundation is because my aunt got treated for breast Cancer, got the lump removed from her breast , but later found out that she had also developed brain Cancer and died 18 months after. A big fact that I only found out doing my research is that 3300 women get diagnosed with Breast Cancer each year and so will 25 men! I had no idea that men could get Breast Cancer!?

Why did the Breast Cancer Foundation pick Pink ribbon as their icon?

The Pink ribbon represents, fear of Breast Cancer, hope for the future, and the charitable goodness of people and businesses who publicly support the Breast Cancer movement. So It is a symbol of support to women/men who currently have Breast CancerOn Friday 20 October people are invited to wear pink to raise awareness of Breast Cancer and raise money towards the cause.

What charity do you support and why?

Summer Learning Journey!
Week 1

Activity 2: Discovering Aotearoa!

My own cultural background?
Where does my family come from?

Well I know that I was born here in Aotearoa, Christchurch. But what other cultural blood do I have in my vanes?
For this Task I will have to ring and ask my family members, where have their ancestors come from?

Let's start with my Step Dads side of the family!  My step dad, John and his Mum and Dad were born in Holland, Rotterdam. Rotterdam is a major port city in the Dutch province of South Holland. After being almost completely reconstructed following WWII, the city is now known for bold, modern, architecture. Or though we are not related, I still love his cultural life!
I know, Amazing! ----->

Next we have my Dad. My Dads side of the family you could say, is all over the place. My great great granddad side of the family is from London, England And my great great grandmother, from Northern Ireland. My, grandmas, Dads side of the family, is from  Germany and her mothers side from Scotland. But my granddad and Grandmother are from New Zealand, and so is my Dad. Wow, I have a lot of cultural ancestors on my Dads side! Here are the flags for Northern Ireland, England, Germany and Scotland.

            Northern Ireland                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         England
                         Germany                                                                                         Scotland

Now to my Mum's side. my grandfather and grandmother on my Mum's side are from Liverpool, England. MY great grandfather is from wales, UK. Fun fact about Liverpool, the Beatles rock band came from there. Liverpool had one of the most famous ports during the late 19th and early 20th century. Wales is called Cumru in Welsh . Wales is part of the UK. English and Welsh are the two official languages of Wales.

More spending freedoms agreed for Liverpool City Region

                                     Wales flag!                                                    Liverpool

Reading

 15/04/2020

15/04/2020
For my reading at home, I have been reading a book by John Grisham.
The book is named, Theodore Boone. Half the man, twice the lawyer.
Here is a little bit of a short insight of the book.

In the small city of Strattenburg, a thirteen year old boy named Theodore Boone thinks that he will be one of the many lawyers in the city. He dreams of being a trail lawyer, in the life of a courtroom.

But one day Theo finds himself stuck in a courtroom much sooner than expected. A perfect Murder. A faceless witness. Only one person knows the truth, Theodore Boone.

Reading this book made me wonder what kinds of great story's have come out of a courtroom or have not been placed in a courtroom in the last 100 years. My suspect for today is Harold Shipman also known as Dr Death.  Harold Shipman was a  doctor  from London who practiced between 1972 and 1998, killing. it is thought that he has killed over 218 patients though it is likely that it is close to 250. during these times, red flags were being raised by the patients family's on the amount of his patients that were elderly women found to have died in bed, not at night, but during the day. To many red flags were raised that soon after Harold Shipman was finally convicted in 2000 and committed suicide while in prison in 2004

Happy Easter!

12/04/2020

Happy Easter everyone!
Normally In my house for Easter, my mum and dad would just give me the eggs in the morning, but for the last 3 weeks my 3 year old nephew, George and his mum have been staying at my house. To make this Easter a little more fun, my mum and stepdad went to hide all the chocolate eggs that we got from the supermarket out in the morning sunlight of the green garden outside of my house. Me being a little bit sneaky, I new where some of the shinny eggs were hiding so I helped my nephew with finding them as well as eating them. ( ;

My nephew and I found all the eggs and were happy to share them with our family!
Here are some photos that I took of my nephew finding the eggs.

Easter art!

09/04/2020

Easter is coming up soon so I am getting ready and putting some art on my refrigerator. This is my drawing of the cute and colorful Easter bunny Taking over all the other celebrations by surprise! Thanks to a useful drawing video on YouTube This was actually easy to do. If you a wondering I have named this bunny Emily after my cute three year old niece. As you can see Christmas, Valentine's day, Halloween and Birthdays have been crossed out for it is Easters time to shine. Don't tell Santa that it was actually Emily and not the rain deer that ate the carrot.
